Big Scary Bulger Episode 102
Speaker: [00:00:00] How much money did you lose at the casinos casino and I didn't lose anything. I gambled it.
Hello. Hello everyone. Welcome back. Got another episode for you guys and uh, should be a good one. I hope we'll see. You guys [00:01:00] seem to be liking 'em, so we'll keep making them. And, uh, how you doing Jack? Hmm.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: How am I doing?
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Are you convinced? Are you convinced that we're doing, doing some good ones? How am
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: I doing?
Is that what you just asked me?
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Well, it seemed like you weren't convinced. I,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: you're well, I like the shows. Um, yeah. And a lot of fun lately. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. Um, there's a lot of 'em. I'm just looking at a list of, uh, like how many, it's over a hundred. Yeah. And some of those old ones. Now I want to hear 'em again.
I don't remember what the hell we even talked about. I know, right? It was so long ago. So.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Go back and take a listen guys, if you guys don't mind, if you guys wanna have a good laugh and uh, also smash up those likes and hit the subscribe button. Uh, we're show's doing great guys and it's all because of you.
So we wanna say thank you for that. But, uh, we're gonna shamelessly ask you for some reviews and also tell us your stories. We definitely wanna hear 'em. We have one, I just recorded with [00:02:00] someone yesterday who was a hairdresser who was in prison. I know we just did a prison story and I got some information from her.
And, uh, we'll be going through and giving you guys that story pretty soon. Didn't do hair in prison, but she definitely has some interesting stories while she was in there. So we bring that to you guys. But, uh, you guys send us an email or if you guys wanna get your voice in the show, uh, let us know so we can guys get you guys on the show.
Uh, go to info at Shit. I told my hairdresser.com pops an email there or go to our website at shit. I told my hairdresser.com. And with that, and with that, the next, let's get time on with the show Now. Let's start the show. Oh, it's not over, over yet. Let's, let's tell a little story. What do he say? Me and you, Jack.
We'll, tell a little story. Uh, I need, there's, there's one that I kind, I've, I've held off on for a while because, um, there's not many people that scare [00:03:00] me. There's not many situations that scare me. You know, I mean, the Clinton scared me and I didn't tell that story for a long time. But now that everything's kind of coming out with the whole Epstein thing and like, we gotta tell the story, you know, because it's relevant and no one's really paying, you know, listening.
I don't, I don't think the Secret Service are listening. If you are. We're just kidding. If you
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: are hit like and uh, exactly. Leave a review.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Follow and subscribe. Yeah. Check us out on YouTube. You wanna take a look at us? Everyone's welcome. Yeah. You know, but I've had a gun to my head. I've been in some pretty fucking hairy situations.
I've cut hair in front of like, I think the largest group was like 10,000 people one time at a show. And that's a lot of people to be in front of doing haircuts. Yeah. You know, and there's not much that will rattle me or, or scare me. Got the IRS after you. I've [00:04:00] had that. I, I've had two fucking audits, man.
Yeah, exactly.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: I remember you saying, you know what, I've had the IRS after me. Yeah. So there's not much else you can do to me. Exactly. You know, it's gonna scare the shit outta me. I've ruined my life, you know? Right. Yeah. Um, I've
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: been there, I've done a lot. I mean, yeah. Two lots of the IRS. That was a lot, you know.
Yeah. I did have a client, Hmm. Who even to this day, he'd probably still scare the shit outta me, and I haven't seen him in a long time. And, uh. He was a, actually a, he was a nice guy. He was nice to me. Got along really, really well. Uh, this was back when I lived in Newport Beach and I had a client of mine who brought in her boyfriend.
She said, my boyfriend wants you to cut his hair. I'm like, okay. I'm like, oh, all right. And she's like, well, you know, he wants to come in and get his haircut. And I was like, yeah, make an appointment. You know, she's like, well, he sound like you're traditional guy. And I'm like. I'm like, I do a lot of [00:05:00] people, so you know, go ahead and bring him in.
And so she makes him an appointment and the guy comes in. Nice guy. But he was one of those kinda guys that you, there's just this air of like mystery around him, you know? And he didn't see a man of very few words, that's for sure. At the beginning and in the middle of the haircut, he goes, I'm gonna have a cigarette.
I'm like, excuse me, 'cause I'm gonna go have a cigarette. And for some reason, I don't know what it was, if it was like my higher power or something out there, which is like, let the man go have a cigarette, because usually I'm like, fuck no. You know what I mean? Don't
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: argue. Yeah, go have
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: a cigarette. No, I'm cutting your hair.
I have a schedule to follow. I did not say no to this guy. There was just something about him that I was like, uh, I'm not gonna say no. I'm like, yeah, go ahead. Goes [00:06:00] outside, has a cigarette, comes back in. Came back around him, you know, I mean, he is like, you may proceed, sir. And I'm like, O, okay, I will proceed.
You know? Yeah. And so I'm like, cutting this guy's hair and everything went fine. And he comes in like light clockwork every fucking four weeks for a haircut. Didn't skip it, didn't miss it. Always came in. But one of the things I always noticed about too is like he, he was, he was always kind of quiet, really didn't say too much.
But then it was like, you know, you're looking at someone, you're like thinking maybe it's the cigarettes. His skin was kind of gray. He kinda would sweat sometimes, you know? And I'm like, maybe he drinks too much. I don't know. Yeah. You know? And the longer, the more time that goes on, lifts hard,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: yo. Oh yeah.
Lifts hard. Yeah. Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: The more time that goes on, we start getting friendlier and friendlier and I'm like, Hey, so you know. He's like, I come inside the salon. He's like, I'm not really, really tired today. You know, I'm not really feeling it. Can I have a cup of coffee? And I'm like, sure. Are you working hard?
He goes, oh yeah, I'm working hard. [00:07:00] And I go, so what do you do? And he goes like, well, I'm working hard O okay. And I, and for some reason I'm like, don't fucking ask. Don't push it. Don't ask again. Yeah, right. You know? And so I didn't, until he finally got comfortable enough with me where he came in, he told me that he's working down at the casinos.
Now in California we have all the Indian reservations that have all the casinos. Some of 'em were kind of close by. Yeah. You know, and he was going to one that was pretty close by and he's like, yeah, I was just up all night. I'm like, you like a pit boss? Or like, what's, what's going on? He was like, well, let's just say that.
You know, if you're running outta money and you need some, I'm your guy. I'm like, oh shit. This dude's a money lender loan. Yeah, he's a lender. Loan shark is low. Yeah, right. And I'm like, oh, now it makes sense. Now everything. I'm starting to kinda like, okay, you are a scary individual. He's a big dude too.
He's a [00:08:00] very tall, like six foot two, six foot three. Yeah. You know, kind of dark look, you know, gray skin though too. You know what I mean? From all the smoking and probably drinking or whatnot. But. It was just like, I'm like, okay, I get it. You're a loan shark. Enough questions asked. I know enough about you.
You don't hang out with like, you know, you're not giving loans from the bank at like 6%.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah. So the going rate for the bank means nothing to him? Absolutely nothing. The going rate is 50, whatever his mood is. Yeah. 50%. Is that a normal? Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Is that how it works? Yeah. Um. I mean, you wanna borrow a hundred bucks, you gotta pay him back 150, you know, and then it goes up every single day.
Yeah. Jeez. You know, so you better pay 'em back, you know, and that's just like 150. That's like, you know, these guys are not borrowing a hundred dollars. They're, they're out lending out like $10,000 at a time and you lose [00:09:00] $10,000. I've seen people lose $10,000, literally a matter of like an hour, you know?
Minutes or even less. Yeah, minutes. Could be minutes if you wanted to. So, I mean, it depends on how you're playing, but you know, I had a good friend who had a gambling problem who finally quit. Who I was just like, I watched him and I was he to, he turned into a completely different person when he started gambling Dustin, it was him.
It was like, oh, it crazy. Go to casinos with him. He
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: deep
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: down 50 grand literally in like, you know, half an hour or even less than that. And then he'd be up
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: like, and he's not all that worried. No. 'cause he knows he, it's part of a rush, I guess.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yeah. Oh, to, oh, absolutely.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: I don't, I've never had gambling either addiction, but thank God I like those slot machines.
And that's about it. Yeah. Blackjack.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yeah, blackjack maybe. Yeah. I like my money and I'm not gonna give it away to the casino, so I'm good. So all of a sudden, after cutting this guy's hair, like every four weeks, he's just [00:10:00] gone. Never saw him again. And it had been like, I don't even know, it was like maybe like a year went by, a couple years, went by, never saw the dude.
And this was a guy who had my cell phone number. You know, he'd call me if you need to get in, or whatever it was. You know what I mean? Nothing. And if someone's not coming in, it could be for whatever reason, I'm not gonna call you to find out. But not only that, though, the people that he probably hung out with, who knows what could have happened.
You know, so yeah, I don't want to get myself involved.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Maybe leave it a mystery.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Well, it was,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: that's really the best idea. It was until he
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: came back.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Oh yeah,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: he came back. Mystery solved one day. Yep. Mystery solved. And I was like, wow, I hadn't seen you in a long time. I'm like, how have you been? He was like, well, I kind of had to go underground for a little bit.
And I'm like, okay. I like to call it
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: on the lamb.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Sure could have been on the lamb. It could have been, you know,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: I don't know what that means.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: I don't know either, you know? But of course now I [00:11:00] have a rapport with him. I know what he does for a living, you know? I know what kind of a person he is and I'm like, man, well I had to,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: you know,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: hide out.
Well, there was a good reason why though, too. Well, I had to go to Mexico or, or he was, I don't know where exactly was at. He didn't say exactly where he was at.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: But during this time they caught Whitey Bulger and he was living in Santa Monica. I remember when all that went down in la.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Sure.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Right. He used to work for Whitey Bulger.
Okay. He was from the east coast, he was from Massachusetts. And I'm like, oh, he's mafia. Got it. Oh my. He used to be one of his henchmen. I was like, no shit. And he kind of saying he was working with the FBI. So during his trial they were unloving people. I dunno if you remember all that, but Whitey Bulger's gang witnesses were witnesses
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: were suddenly gone.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Disappearing. [00:12:00] Disappearing. Some they were unliving, some, some shit was going down and he knew, 'cause he had, I guess given some information and that's why he was out. He wasn't in prison or anything. He'd been working with the author. So once he was arrested, maybe he was gone, was like
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: witness protection.
He could have been, you
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: know, um, he could have been. But all I know is that he knew who the guy was and he went into hiding 'cause he was afraid of for his life. And the thing about though is that if you worked for this guy, you know what he's capable of. Mm-hmm. So you know exactly who to hide from, how to hide what they're looking for.
'cause you used to work for, for that operation. Sure.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: So you disappear yourself. So I was like, and it was like one of those things where like, holy shit, everyone inside the salon, I remember whenever this guy came in, they were afraid of him. Every single person. And I remember even the salon owner one time after we found [00:13:00] out that he used to work for far, Whitey Bulger even said, he was like, you know what?
There's not many people that scare me, but you scare me. And he looked at him and the guy and he was like, still do, don't I? And he goes, yes, yes sir, yes, yes. I like walked away. But it was like he was trying to get to the point where like, oh, I'm not afraid of you anymore. And he was like, no, you still fear me.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: What do you mean? Yeah, yeah. Um, yeah, you
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: still fear me. And it was just so funny 'cause he was just like, he was trying to make it like, oh, now we know about you. Now we know who you are. So maybe you're not that scary. He's like, no, you still fear me. That's
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: even more reason to keep your mouth, uh, and not joke about.
This person you're talking about, the owner obviously hasn't been, uh, beaten up in a long time.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yeah. So he probably would deserve like, like he wouldn't Yeah. A little good ass kicking and this guy could deliver, that's for sure. Sounds like it. He could deliver. 'cause after this, after he started finding out everything about him, he.
Whitey Bulger is gone now. [00:14:00] You know what I mean? So he is like, I can say whatever the fuck I want. And he did, you know? Yeah. And he wouldn't say certain things. I mean, I wouldn't ask him like, did you kill somebody? You know, because you know he did. I know he did. It's irrelevant at the point you don't wanna know if
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: you know about it then.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Right, exactly. Somebody may
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: ask
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: you about it and I don't wanna have anybody ask me any questions about anything. But I was going, now he's like kind of telling me different stories or just like things that happened, but with like around the salon, during this time I had left and went to LA and I had a partner.
You remember who she was? Yeah. Who screwed me over. Yep. And one of someone that I knew was taking care of him and, uh, he heard about what happened to me. Right. 'cause my friend told him, he reached out and he was like, Hey Jason. He's like, you know, if you need me to go through and take care of someone for you, you know I will.
Right. Oh shit. You [00:15:00] know, I was like, oh. Oh, I'm like, you wanna what? Thank you. But that's not gonna be necessary. Yeah. We already have lawyers involved and like, don't worry about it. You know what I mean? He's like, well, you wanna what though? He is like, but you know, if someone could, you know, maybe have some, uh, you know, some bones kind of like re you know, misplaced or, you know, maybe get some guys that you know could have know how to work with some pipes.
Go down and visit your friend. Let me know if you want anything done. And I'm like, the last thing I need is to be in someone's pocket.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: You know what though? It's nice to know that somebody like that likes you.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yeah.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Because he is offering to do you a favor
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: and it gives you options, doesn't it? I mean, I had an option.
I could either do the legal way or the illegal way if I wanted to. Yeah. You know, he might know some guys that, you know, go through and work with some pipe cutters. I might do some work on some people who knows. You know what I mean? But I was like, I definitely said, Hey, thanks for the offer. We're gonna [00:16:00] go the route with the lawyers.
'cause too many people know about the situation. And if you went to this person's house, it might look a little weird. Now, you know, we don't want them to, maybe not,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: yeah. We don't need them to have an accident. Quite yet.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Exactly. Let's just wait a little on down the road, you know, but he, that was, that was this guy, and it was like, and when I say, this man scared me, this man scared me.
And to get an offer like that, it's not every day you get an offer like that.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: No, you know, but, oh my God, that's actually awesome. I think it's amazing, uh, that someone's offering to off somebody for you. You're like, I, you, what? What is it? Wow, that's sweet man, Jack. You what? He really
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: just wanted to solve a problem for me.
You know what I mean? That's all that it was. I had a problem. He wants to help you out. He could have solved it. He wanted to help me out. You know what I mean? I mean, I dunno about Un Alive somebody. It's just, you know, maybe you never saw them again.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: It could be as simple as that. It's just nice, uh, to
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: feel loved.
But this guy [00:17:00] had everyone in his pocket. Remember the Porsche dealership that I would go to in Newport Beach? Yeah. And we got yelled at by that manager inside there. He was in his pocket. 'cause anytime anything went wrong with the car, and my boss had a Porsche at the time too. The owner of the slum had a Porsche.
And he was like, yeah, you need one. He's, I'll just go and, uh, get a loaner from this guy. Like Porsche doesn't give loaners. He goes, my guy will give you a loaner. I'm like, oh my God, you have him in your pocket. Wow. I was like, so I knew what it would be like to be in his pocket, and I did not want to be there.
No. So when he offered his services, I politely declined.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: You know what that means? You know, it's like Exactly. I may ask you to do a favor one day. Maybe that day won't come, but if it does, you know, everyone's seen, uh, Theto, Corleone offer that. So, exactly, and that's the last thing I need, so. [00:18:00] Yep.
And we are back.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Alright, so we have actually gone through and talked about salespeople that work for distributors and you know how I love them Now I've been on that side as well though too,
where I've actually walked inside the salons. Not a salesman. Well, kind of, you know, I mean, but I never, I, no, I never was a saleswoman.
Could have been mistaken as one would had my long hair, but no, unfortunately not. Um, probably would've had better in sales to tell you truth, you know,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: never know,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: something low cut and
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: right?
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: yeah, you got
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Uh, but I can't stand a lot of the salespeople that work for these distributors. I ha we have talked about this before. They always come in at the inopportune time.
They're always trying to talk to you while you're doing a client. And I had a guy come into the [00:19:00] salon one time. Now, this is when I first opened up the shop here in Seattle, and I had a contract. With a company who I sold the shelves to, they gave me a shit ton of money to open up this shop. And in turn, I signed a contract for five years saying I would only buy my product from them, which is a good deal,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: And I didn't have to go through and pay back the money, which is an amazing deal.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Do they have all the things you needed?
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yes.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Okay, perfect.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: So. During this time though, when we first opened up, of course, all the salespeople see a new salon opening up. They wanna sell to you. And so I had a salesperson come in and he was trying to convince me to buy product from him. And I'm like, listen, I have a contract. I can't go through and break. If I break this contract and put anybody else's product on my shelves, I gotta pay this money back.
So I have a pretty good fucking deal, And he's like, you know. There's gotta be something that they [00:20:00] don't sell. I can sell you. And I go again, that's not the point. The point is I just sell their stuff,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: doesn't matter. Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: right? If you have something that I, they don't carry, I still can't sell it because I have a contract.
And he's like, he got so pissed off, he slammed his hand on the front desk. He goes, what's it gonna take for me to get through to you so I can sell stuff to you? And I'm like.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: To you.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: I looked at him, I'm like, wow, do you not have ears? I have a contract. I can't buy from you, period. Get the fuck outta my salon.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: that's what I wouldn't have even ex explained it I, I would've just him P door. You know, it's like,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Right? I mean, that was.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: he that you're risk. having to pay a lot of money back he can make a little sale.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Exactly. 'cause he had something I that didn't carry. I'm like, I don't fucking care.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: him.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: I'm like, bitch, shampoo, shampoo. Get the fuck outta my shop. But I swore to [00:21:00] myself that I would never,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: or
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: finally.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: was he all huffy about it?
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: was he ever, let me tell you, he got his panties. Let me, yeah. His panties were all twisted and bundled up, you know what I mean?
And had his balls in a knot as he like huffed and puffed out the door. But I swore I would never buy anything from that distributorship because of the people that they hired until they, until they came out the blow dryer that I wanted.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Well, yeah. What do you mean that they, up with one
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Well, they started distributing a blow dryer and it was one of the really lightweight small ones,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: and I, and it is faster. It was, it's actually the fastest blow dryer on the market. It's hot, it's fast, and I hate blow drying hair. So if I need it done fast and that heat, that's what gets the hair. To do what you want to do, you gotta use the fucking heat.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Combination of.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: fucking thing was fast and hot.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Blowing hard [00:22:00] and hot and hard.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Exactly
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: That's how you like it. That's how I like it
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: how I said, yeah. Hot and hard. Exactly.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Knowing your windows there. Don't look into it. Don't look into it. People don't look into it. Anyhow, uh, they were the one distributor that did carry it. They had a really good return policy, and if anything went well with a blow dryer within that first year of you owning it, they would get you another one.
What just so happened with this blow dryer? They barely lasted like six months. I started to find out because I had a return one nearly was like, maybe like nine, 10 months in, and so I called them up and they're like, bring it in.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah. Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Just bring it in.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: They would just say, change it,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Hey, exchange Jeff for a brand new one.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: We knew. Someone who hair dryers in la uh, that, didn't last long either. Um,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Oh, that was a different story. Yeah. We, we will talk about, we'll talk about Nick a different time.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: him. Yeah. Um,[00:23:00]
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yeah. Nick, he, he, he had some problems, you know what I mean? But he had different problems. Uh, he actually, Nick had good customer service though, but it, it, his was a different situation. His problem was with China and buying all of his stuff from there.
That's what I found out what the, what the real problem was. This company is from Italy and their blow dryers maybe lasted about eight months or so. And so when it would go out, they, oh, just bring it back in. We'll get you a new one and we'll send it back to the company. They'll honor all this. I'm like, oh, okay.
Well thank you. If this is how you're gonna treat me, then I'll be more than happy to buy my blow dryers from you. And so about six years go by, maybe five years go by, and every so often I'd have a return, but then they'd come out with a new one. So I'd upgrade and buy the new one because they had a great return policy and they were taking care of the people who shopped at their distributorships.
I said, okay. I will go through and make some purchases here, big ones as [00:24:00] well, you know what I mean? 'cause they're like four something hundred dollars.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: And um, I'm like, is you take care of me. I take care of, I'll spend my money here. So that just seemed to stop last week. This just happened. So I have a blow dryer.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Okay.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: I got it. I, I, I purchased a blow dryer.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: his hand on the,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: He's gone. I haven't seen him in a long time, thank God.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: All
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Uh, but I, I bought a blow dryer. It went out and it was an upgraded one that I spent money on. So I go, oh, well you wanna what? I went and got another one, and they honored everything about eight months ago. They, you know, same return policy, no problem.
This one again, boom, blows up on me. I'm like, shit, now I gotta go back to the goddamn store and get another one.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: So I go down to the store and I walk in, I have the receipt, I have everything there. And they were like, um, yeah, our return policy has changed. And I'm like, oh, [00:25:00] okay. He's like, yeah. So he's like, this, you, you, your original purchase for this blow dryer was like 18 months ago.
Like 17 months ago. And I went, right, well that was the first one that I bought. I had an upgraded blow dryer. He goes, yeah, he's like, and then I returned this one in like eight months later and I got this brand new one I, and it just went out on me. So I need to go through and work something out with this blow dryer.
And he goes, yeah, but your original purchase was like 17 months ago, so you're past the one year mark. And I said, right, but this blow dryer here is not a year old.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Hmm.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: And they go, yeah, but we can't, since your original you off the original purchase date.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Uh.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: I went, excuse me, I'm all, but this blow dryer is less than a year old.
I went, I'll pay money to go through and have it like replaced or something like that. I mean, I want, I don't wanna pay full price, but I'm like, the product that you're selling is not lasting the full year warranty. He goes, well, the company won't honor the full year warranty 'cause you're past that [00:26:00] now.
And I'm like, no, I'm not. No, I'm not.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: God. it sounds like not really uh. new policy
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: And they were pushing that onto me, that I was the one to understand the end.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah. Yeah. Wow.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: they were like, I said, well, she said, should I get the manager? I said, absolutely Because I'm like, I need a new blow dryer. 'cause I don't have one.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: And so the manager is in the back.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: guys sold me one. That doesn't work anymore, you know?
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Then you gave me a new one that still doesn't work again,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: and it was, each one was within less than a year. Well, the manager hears this and doesn't wanna deal with me, will not come out of the back to come and talk to me.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Hmm.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: All they said was like, by, here's a phone number to the corporate office. You can call them and they can help you.
And I'm like, I'm right here.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: No, but he is the manager.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Won't talk to me. The manager's giving me the corporate office number,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: that's why he, [00:27:00] has an office, has a job,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: correct.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: so that, he is, go-between corporate office and you.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: He did not want to be in between,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: They him to do that.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: but.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: don't understand. Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: They pushed that me off
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Okay.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: the corporate office. So now that I'm calling, I'm calling them and I explained to them what had happened,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: And they said, well, did you make this purchase? And then she knows, well, no. She goes, did you make this purchase within the past 30 days? I went, no. Why? I'm like, you obviously, I just told you the whole story.
No, I didn't. She goes, oh, well we have a new policy that you can't return anything within the next 30 days.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: it's all a bunch of shit.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Right.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: what it is. And, they're just sticking with their story.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Right,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: looping right back around, out of the original purchase.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: but it wasn't just that though. Now she even wants to double down on the 30 day per 30 day return policy. I go, now, when did you start that? She goes, last month. I go, great. [00:28:00] I bought this eight months ago. You didn't have that return policy and I wasn't aware of it. So why don't you honor the policy that I bought this blow dryer under and get me a new blow dryer?
And she goes, you need to contact the manufacturer. And I go, actually, I won't be going through and buying anything from here ever again. I'm like, I'm gonna buy another blow dryer 'cause I absolutely need it right now. So I'm about to go in and start doing hair. I'm like, what's your, I go, what's your return policy on the new blow dryer?
She goes, you can return it for any reason within the next 30 days. And I go, I will. I definitely will. Don't worry about that.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: When
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: You know, uh, I just did the return yesterday, actually.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: You returned it. Okay, good.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: I returned yesterday, and when the girl asked me, is there anything wrong with the blow dry? I said, no, I just bought it a couple weeks ago or a week ago.
And she goes, what's your return? Why are you returning it? I said, bad customer service on your end.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Mm-hmm.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: I have 30 days of return with no questions asked. That's what I was told, and you're still asking me questions and she's looked at me. [00:29:00] I'm like, this is the reason. Now, you know, I did. I went to Amazon and bought a blow dryer for a third of the price, and it was straight from the manufacturer.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: If it's something like that, you know, it's like, why not?
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yep.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: They make it real easy,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Real easy. In fact.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: and they're all nice about it too.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: I bought it. Here's the thing, they were this, this com, this store closes at 5:00 PM
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Mm-hmm.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: I bought this blow dryer at 6:30 PM I had it delivered to my house at 4:00 AM the next morning. I had it ready for the work the next day,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: this is a whole new world with this whole,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: exactly.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: to buy locally, uh, support local businesses and everything. Uh,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Oh, that's what she told me,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Who told you that?
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: the salesperson. And she goes, well, don't you wanna support local? I go, I am. She goes, what do you mean? I said, Amazon's in my backyard.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: go.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: is in Seattle,
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Is in Seattle and I have a lot of clients that work for Amazon that support me. So I'm actually [00:30:00] supporting local
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: yeah. Yep.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: and she's kinda looked at me and I'm like, you wanna wait?
And here's the thing. I bought it from the manufacturer at a discount that sells it less than what you guys, uh, sell it for. And I know what their return policy is and it's better than yours. I'm like, so why should I buy from you?
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: they'll just make up something like, oh, it's fake, or, they don't have, uh, the, models we have or something like that. He'll just make up some shit
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Oh, she did say that. Funny enough, you know, I, I went to the Amazon page and I showed her the manufacturer's own webpage on Amazon and the prices, and I go, why wouldn't I buy it there instead of from you?
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: And they have better customer service if I need to return something. It's done like that.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: why did she that? She must have like, pulled that out of her ass.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yeah. She doesn't know.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: He just made that up. She is like, here's what I'm gonna tell him. Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yeah. And it, it backfires [00:31:00] straight on her. And I'm sorry, if you are gonna be a local company, who is gonna be, providing a product to people locally, have good customer service. There's a reason why people bypass you now and go to Amazon or go to like Costco. I can buy a vacuum at Costco and return it a year later because something went wrong with it.
And they don't even ask me a question, you know, does, doesn't work. I go, no, here's your money back. Have a nice day. That's it.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Yeah. Yeah.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: That's it. There are local places that you know, that we go to, that I go to, like I don't have to go to Home Depot all the time. There's actually a
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: that's a ex right there. Hardware tours, local neighborhood hardware tours
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: yep.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: are best
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Best thing ever.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: ever.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yep. And,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: super nice, super helpful, almost always.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: And you wanna what? The return policies are amazing.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Good luck. finding anyone. If you have [00:32:00] a, a question, you almost have to go and hunt them down and then
chase after them
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yeah.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: see you and if you look like you have question, run off.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: Yeah.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: They don't wanna help you.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: And that's why you go to the, that's why you go to the mom,
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: I'm, I'm
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: mom and pop places. You go to the other mom and pop places and you go from go to them because you're gonna get the good customer service. They know what they're talking about. That's what we want from people. And so if you're not doing the business.
You're like, well, we're local, this and that. I'm sorry, but there's a reason someone's not coming back to you. You need to go through and look at your business model and redo it and say like, Hey, I'm gonna go through and give the people what they want. That's how you stay in business. Don't just be like, I'm local.
That's why you should come to me. You wouldn't go somewhere else and buy it at a cheaper, at a third of the price. Yes, I am. 'cause guess what? I own a business too, and it's called my fucking chair. I make [00:33:00] money right there, and I'm not gonna go through and waste my time and my money on you just because you're local.
Fuck you.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: Local loco.
ā
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: And now it's time for shit ology. Jason, we were just thinking there's really no downside to having a wise guy client hanging around just offering free haircuts to handle your salon business from now on, payments are always non-negotiable and tips are no longer optional.
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: 50% sounds about right to me.
What about you? Yeah, good job. I knew you'd see things my way. You know all
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: those people who borrow tools from your station? Well, that stops today with a raise of an eyebrow. The only thing they're taking is a piss in their pants before walking away. Get the fuck outta here. But the highlight of your day will be taking him to do the returns.
Remember that blow dryer we [00:34:00] talked about earlier? Well, guess what happens when they don't wanna return it?
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: That blow dryer doesn't look like it fits up your ass, does it? Two guys behind me say that it will, and those guys are experts at it.
jason-_2_09-16-2025_135545: We all walked out with free blow dryers that day. It was a good day.
And with that, stay shitty and see you
jack_2_09-16-2025_145545: next time.
