[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_02] Hey Jason, where are you getting your education these days?

[00:00:03] [SPEAKER_01] Oh, I skipped from the Bee Supply store, brought to you by Pepsi. And where else? Oh, I also go to YouTube University, brought to you by KFC.

[00:00:12] [SPEAKER_02] Okay, what about Instagram, TikTok, anything like that?

[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_01] Oh yeah, I totally had a ton of shit from Instagram. Oh my god, those influencers are amazing. Brought to you by Taco Bell.

[00:00:23] [SPEAKER_02] So, sounds like you've been learning a lot about food. Interesting. Anything about hair?

[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_01] I have no idea what you're talking about. It's all about hair. That's all I do. Brought to you by PepsiCo again. Real hairdressers telling real stories about their experiences from behind the salon chair. And we are now saying the quiet parts out loud. This is Sh!t I told my Hairdresser.

[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_01] Hello and welcome back guys, another episode of Shit I Told My Hairdresser. Got Paula back with us. How are you Paula?

[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_02] I'm doing great Jason, how are you?

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_01] I'm doing good, doing good. We're always here, me and you every fucking week, isn't it?

[00:01:20] I know.

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_01] Love it, love it.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01] Hey guys, so go through and hit that subscribe button wherever you go through and get this podcast. We're doing a great job with all that. But if you guys don't mind, get on there and give us a little like. And remember guys, we are just like the hairdressing industry. We are word of mouth. So make sure you tell 10 of your friends and 20 people that you hate because again, you're like hurting little ears. So, and with that, we have a guest with us today. We are. We have a, all the way from Spain. I met him, Daniela, in London and we've known each other for, oh my God. Up in like 20 years now.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_01] We've been friends for a long, long time. And he's going to go through and talk to us about education today. guys it's something that there's a massive massive vacuum right now in the industry about education and daniela is bringing something to the industry which i think is really important but not only that i think we spoke about what about two months ago and he was showing me what he was doing and fuck i was impressed it was so cool and so refreshing and something that no one else is

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_01] doing so i had to go through and have daniela daniela how are you i'm good hi jason

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_02] hi daniela nice to meet you oh my gosh i love very nice to meet you this is gonna be so much

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_01] fun today it's gonna be a good one and thanks for having me oh my god dude it's been such a long time so i've seen you actually it's been at least like what 70 years or so before covid more than that more than that so that's been a long time more than that tell everyone a little bit about you and where you kind of come from you know we keep this kind of brief you mean but so we get to the collective yeah as we're doing right now yeah but should i give you my last my last 20 years in

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_00] my last 20 years in one in one bite exactly okay yes all right so um i spent my last 20 years in london originally i am from italy rome uh but i moved in london that i was a baby i was only 20 years old after seeing anthony Moscolo and his team performing a stage in rome uh and like many i fall in love with that and i moved to london and my only dream was to work for katonian guy and become

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_00] one of the international art director so pursuing that dream i you know fast forward became an art director i keep pursuing i had amazing people around me and they keep pushing me so at the end i managed to become the academy manager of the Toni&Guy London Academy and i covered that role for almost 10 years like about eight years uh that i was the toning guy london academy manager for toning

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_00] guy up until this year well february this year where i uh left we decided with my family to relocate to spain and with that also came the feeling of wanting to start a new a new chapter and this is where the global hair collective started and this is where now we are at the moment living and breathing these new dreams and uh you know coming together with something new what inspired this brainchild

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_02] though i i gotta get back to that what inspired this brainchild of yours well when you work for

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_00] a big institution like toning guy one of the things that you assist every single day is that quality of education right um but at the same time what you see along the way is so many artists that you work together you know one by one starting to leave and and and and this is where you know all of a sudden you start to think why all these artists are going and you know i used to love where i am i still i still

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_00] love where i was and and and and this is where for me you know you start questioning is that something that is missing and when you start talking to them because obviously most of the people that goes away you know are your friends um there's always down to two things people leave a big corporate job number one is for identity is because they want their name to go forward and the other part obviously is

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_00] financial um and and and and and these are the two bigger reason why someone decides to say okay let's sit the corporate i'm gonna go out and do my own these are the two driving force absolutely absolutely and and the global hair collective really wants to sit in between these amazing institutions that they're still there they're still going strong but also a new generation that

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_00] since probably around 2010 has stepped out these big institutions and decided to to go on their own now some of the artists as you know guys have made an amazing career but oh yeah i think i've

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01] i saw the list that you guys had and i know them very well and yes they have they've done

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_00] really well in respect the the big the biggest problem i feel that at the moment the the industry there's a lot of fragmentation and you know those iconic teams that we used to have back in the days from the 90s we from you know tonian guy the tgs the susun you know everything is slightly drifted into that solo artist career which i do feel that yes is great but we can bring back some something

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_00] different we can have both of the two worlds it doesn't have to be one or the other and as you know the world in in everything we see it goes to the left then you go all to the right but yeah you know and and and this is where the global hair collective wants to see wants to give the the the the freedom to the artist wants to make sure that the artist is solo and and and and and makes his own

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_00] choice and he has his own voice but at the same time having that structure that foundation and that credibility that a company or a grant will give you on top of your name so it's kind of sitting in between is this is creating a new a new model that it needs to bring something that people really want

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_01] right and what is that what is that you feel like people really really want because i have conversations like this with people in my area and there's such a lack of education up here on the west coast of the

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_02] united states especially hand-on-one person-to-person education and so and you want that interaction with people i was just listening to the news today about how ai is really probably not good for people on a lot of levels because you don't get that eye contact you don't don't get that emotional um stimulation from one person to the other and so when they say when i i some people try to sell me

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_02] online classes but i want that one-on-one and yes there's something personal missing out of it

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_00] well the thing is this that in when we start in 2010 more or less when you know the social media really boom yeah you know the role of educator completely change if you think about it when you're doing an educational video my only responsibility is to create good content when i'm teaching someone in real person in real life you know their understanding that is my job you know my job

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_00] is to make sure that you understood if i am behind the screen whatever i do what happened behind that screen you don't i don't know it's not my responsibility my responsibility was to create the content for you to watch you understood or not that's not my job so we're starting to misunderstand what is the real uh objective of being an educator and being a content creator none of them is better than the other it's just two different story you know and someone can be an

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_00] amazing content creator and very bad educator and someone can be an amazing educator but very bad on creating content it's just two separate things and very often we mix them two together

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_01] you know that is that is very that's very true you know i mean and that's one of the things that everyone's kind of getting confused right now especially with instagram you know i mean so everyone's trying to sell a course on there and when they get right down to it the course is fluff it's nothing you know and that is i think is like you know what are you guys doing that's going to be different than everybody else are you going to be doing the online thing or in in person or

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_00] look we're big we're big believer on in person um yeah at the moment we are in uh in in this first phase where we have launched the the platform we have announced all the educators and we are now in the process of starting very good relationship with brands with distributors around the world and

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_00] and this is where we are planning all the activities but all these activities is us coming to the people us traveling in the country and to meet the people you know nowadays there's so much information out there that people don't want that you know if you want information i just go online and i get as much

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_00] as information as i want there's chat gpt there's clove there's all the ai that all that things people are looking for transformation and ultimately when you are starting a course you want to make sure that you know you take people through a journey if that journey is one day if it's two days but ultimately i want to make sure that i transform the way you think i transform the way you maybe hold the pair of scissors or looking at just a simple haircut ultimately people buy transformation they don't buy

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_00] um information you know you can get shit lots of that in in on internet you know and and and and this is why i didn't want to have another online academy there's plenty out there there's amazing one there's great content that's not where i want to place global hair collective and all the team that works in there you know we are educators we are people that love sharing but ultimately we perform in front

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_00] of people we educate one to one one to a salon one to a group of people or a bigger stage in front of a bigger audience this is what we love to do and everyone that is part of the global hair collective now and for a very long time i can tell you that they're going to be educators and not just content creator yeah it may be content creator but well you're going to need the content yeah that's for

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01] sure that that skills it needs to be education who did you choose i know that when before you guys launched i mean we even talked about it i mean you was getting thousands of people going through and want to be part of this because i know i know yeah i know yeah i know you had like a lot of people you were telling us about that um how did you choose you know i mean who are these people that if people want to come to the hair collective who are the people who are going to be teaching for

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_00] you guys well obviously i'm not gonna lie the the social media is a big big big big big um cv where you start to see straight away how much activity someone does and it's very difficult to have credibility on someone that maybe is based on the other part of the world and you don't see any activities of what he does yeah so i can't really trust based on says oh i'll do 30 teaching

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_00] days a year and then what i see on social media is a couple of pictures flowers and a seaside it's very difficult so i'm not gonna lie social media it is extremely important i think you need to have a presence in nowadays also to educate you know that is your portal where people see it get attracted you tease them and then they want to have the real you and then when you still like people to say

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_00] okay i want to book this guy so first part was social media to see where they are what they're doing how active they are i wanted to know what they teach when and how many days they're teaching you know i am looking for someone who is committed on a weekly base to educate i don't want a part-time teacher and and when you see the people that they are in the collective most of them are just full-time

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_00] full-time educators uh there's couple of them that they own salon yeah and but most of them are just educators full-time right yeah and that's so you need to live that's it you need to live and breathe education and ultimately you know i want people that believes in the project that people that believes in working you know within a team i'm a big team uh believer this is why i created the collective

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_00] because i believe that on my own i can go very far but i know that together you know surrounded by the right people i can grow even more and can grow faster you know this is where my 20 years of my background had taught me that you know together we are stronger and and very often we forget that but we just want to go on our own so i need people with the right mindset i need people to understand that

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_00] you know when they grow i grow when i grow they grow and we all grow together and and it's about lifting each other's up and when that is the right mindset i think that is the moment that we building

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_01] something very special now what do you think is missing in education right now what part do you think that you're going to fill what gap do you think you're going to fill with having the global

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_00] higher collective well it's difficult to to answer to a question like this because you know there's so much out there and i do believe that ultimately you know the educators slash content creation i think that is a big issue where we're definitely going into where are educators you know if you put us in front of an audience of 10 people our responsibility is not to show off but it's to educate those people is to

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_00] transform these people of how to see them that is a guarantee um what we what we're changing is is is looking at education from what the true education is is is looking after the people that is in front of you you know when you when you are being an educator is is an enormous responsibility because

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_00] someone is vulnerable around you in front of you not knowing what is the subject uh and maybe very scared you know to to expose also their weakness nobody likes to be point out to say oh that graduation is crap or or that layering is not clean or even it's a very vulnerable place to be so being an educator is someone who is has who has an

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_00] extreme empathy and understand what that person in front of them needs and not necessarily is a haircut sometimes it's just confidence sometimes it's just a little reassurance that what they're doing is the right thing sometimes it's just about you know give them a little bit of belief and then all of a sudden you know that person you set the tone for them to receive so much knowledge you see we're looking at

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_00] more of a yeah almost like a psychology approach and and and you know this is what a true educator is about it's not about just creating a clean graduation that helps but if i don't know how to pass that information on then i'm just a good hairdresser and and and and and and it is is that's not the case you know we're talking about educating so it's like let's go behind the fucking chair and do that

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_01] on clients all day long who the fuck cares you know i mean go make your money that way exactly you know

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_00] you know it's like it's like that hedgerist in the salon okay we all had that come on when we had someone in the salon that is amazing what they do is fantastic but yeah they're terrible with people skills they are sitting behind the client for two hours they shut up they don't say a word and yeah that guy is makes floatless graduation however it's not busy because he can't connect and then you have

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_00] on the other side someone who's maybe he's not so good with you know doing that graduation doing those big changes but it is phenomenal of entertaining that person is busy end of the story okay so this is what i'm saying education is not just about being amazing at graduation or at your knowledge but it's

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_00] understanding how to pass it on and and and that is a skills himself being a great hairdresser it doesn't mean or doesn't make you an educator at all i've seen many amazing aging hairdressers saying that oh i'm an educator no you're not you're just a great hairdresser and it's okay you know take that because some people go through the whole career wanted to be a great hairdresser and they're not

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_02] even that yeah exactly yeah that was a different skill yeah that was one of my things with teaching makeup and doing my makeup workshops after i left bedhead i created my own education but the aha moment that i got from people when they got it when i was able to get across that concept and you can see it in their eyes were aha i'm like oh i just did a good job it's there's nothing better than that yeah

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_01] absolutely that goes back to what you were saying paula though you know what i mean it was kind of like hey i can't help you sometimes we get things like this a lot of the videos the video should just be a guide you mean and then you need an actual person again to go through walk you through the steps and i think that's what you're getting to danielle right it's just like you need someone right there to be like hey you want to watch just need that feedback position change your yeah change your elbow a little bit change look at it this way and all of a sudden you see that snap you know

[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_01] peer to peer is the way we learn when someone's trying to sell you an education platform on the like selling you a video on instagram or something like that i guarantee you'll be able to watch it you might be able to get a little bit out of it i do you mean but am i gonna go through and do exactly what that person's doing no but then that gets me to another point those little two how are the educators that work for you going to keep their individualism it's their it's their voice

[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_00] you know i think i think ultimately you know when creating a standard creating structure is not a limitation you know if you're giving people the right tools to express themselves this is when you truly see creativity and and we need to look at that in a different way where a lot of the time we we associate having structure into some form of limitation i do believe if uh if you got the right

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_00] people um and you have as i say that right mindset of everyone people will maintain their own voice you know i can create together with my peers a trend report but the way how i'm going to bring it to life is going to be very much daniela de angelis all over that model it's going to be very much daniela de angelis all over that delivery and the way how i deliver with my um charisma with my accent

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_00] with my broken english with with everything that i have is going to be so much mine and it cannot be the same as an endy smith or again ether or or any of the artists that i have and and this is what makes us so special i choose individual that on their own they could have stand on their own on their feet and travel very far yeah so they they don't they didn't need me but we decided to come together

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_00] to push these two a different level so yes that i i guess i answer to your to your question is we all into this we're very aware of what who what we can do on our own but we decided to join forces yeah well you're stronger in numbers that's all there is to it you know some people say that now he's the best art team that is out there around the world so i'm gonna take that i've seen the list

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_01] you guys need to go through and check out the list let me tell you you know marino i mean it was over in belgium right i mean yeah yeah fantastic hairdresser remember hanging out with him the london academy great guy uh i mean jason gray fucking hell so now we had him on the show already once okay he's a genius he's brilliant and i yeah i said definitely want to go through and bring on some of your artists onto the podcast house for sure so they can go through and talk about what they're doing and that way

[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_01] they were amazing and see that way they can look on but not only that though it's just kind of like uh what how what type of education platform is this something that you're gonna be putting putting together and that's what they're gonna be bringing out to the people house is gonna work you know i mean like where so if i'm the hairdresser like what am i looking for so there's many way

[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_00] yeah well we can the difference between global hair collective and let's say any other institution is that we talk to the whole industry at one go what i mean by that is that we can work with a single hairdresser that wants to have a one-to-one petition um experience a one-to-one experience we're talking to the salon owner that wants to create a bespoke package to upskill their stuff

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_00] and it can be anything as my staff struggle with short hair we're just going to focus a session two session three session four session as many as you want on that specific subject so talking to individual uh artists that can be freelance that can be people that they are in session in session that they want to upskill on certain areas so one artist salon owners then we're moving into the

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_00] bigger part where we're talking to distributors as we are brandless we can work with any distributors biggest problem for our distributors is that they hold four five six ten brands and whenever they put in together the educational calendar they need to talk to 10 different institutions where as we are brandless we can provide education and we can use anything they want and this is one of the biggest

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_00] advantage of talking to global hair collective so we're the distributors we then moving with brands as we have quite already now quite few brands that they're already starting to to talk to us and with the brands we can help them with uh upskill their stuff um educational train which i have already quite few booked in for for next year they they want me to spend a couple of days with their educational team to upskill them

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_00] um yeah we do with we do creative direction um not every single brand out there has the power financial power as a sports golf as a l'oreal to have an artistic team and put together a campaign what they do is producing product what would they need a someone to bring those products to life this is when they can come to us and we can put a campaign for them together and this is what we're doing

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_00] for 2027 already with quite a few brands that you know scattered around the world that they ask us to do creative direction so you see we are doing yes we don't have an academy as such at the moment we have a global team that travels the world we have a lot of um event now scheduled for 2027 mainly through the collaboration that we're having with distributors and brand around the world and

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_00] then is when we're also adding directly to business is business to business where we have a salon owner contacting us and says i would love to have a one-to-one with you dan i just had one today from india we don't want to send their son you know to london and spend 10 days with me and you know these artists is someone else hero out there and where before it was very difficult to spend some time with your hero you couldn't book him or that person you look up for for two days

[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_00] well today is available you know i we i started already to have inquiries you know with some most of the guys i have to say with people that they want to spend two days with their hero and when they speak i want to spend time with with again with the danilo with andy with jason they talking to them as these are my hero and i can't believe i can i get access to spend the two days with them i wish i had

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_00] two days back in the days you know when i wanted to spend a few days with an anthony or right or anyone else in the industry you know so we these are also the things that we're making different is that we're talking to the whole industry from the single artist to the salon owner to the distributor to the brand and we can provide help growth into a collaborational partnership and ultimately we're

[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_01] there to you know elevate the industry nice see that's that's the whole point of it though you know i mean is be able to have that reach and people are able to go through and be able to like basically get a you know some one-on-one with you because for us it was very different we had to go through and join a company and then we got really lucky to work with anthony moscolo on stage or do things like that you know what i mean it's like a lot of hard work and sweat and shit that we had to go

[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_01] through you know just to get to that point so it wasn't just anybody got to do that but you don't have to go through and pay off a company go to the academy maybe get that person this way you're gonna actually get reaped out now maybe get that person exactly yeah then you know it sounds like

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_02] you're bringing back authenticity to education which is so nice because when i was an educator i man i would stick around after the shows and talk with students and they would pick my brain for at least an hour and i'm sitting there just starving wanting to go and get some lunch but i'm out now

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_00] i've got to talk to you guys so yeah thank you for that yeah yeah have to you need to you you you make we don't as an educators very often as we're doing these too often we forget how much impact we are giving or doing for someone's life right and sometimes it can be something very little uh and for someone in the audience that you honey maybe you didn't even know this but you just

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_00] change all his life and you know they've done it to me uh yeah i lived there straight away when you know the team was up on stage and when they left the stage they took me as well with them and this is when i went back to my mom and i say mom i know what i want to do when i'm older she said i thought you want to be a hairdresser i say yeah but not that type of hairdresser right yeah and and and you

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_00] know that day they made an impact on me and you know i can share many story of people that they really touch on me and and it's incredible and very often we take these things for granted and and this is why i always say whenever you step off stage or wherever you are sharing anything to anybody don't take it for granted feel extremely lucky and honored to do that job because not everybody

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_00] can do it and be at service of the others not because you're educated you are the educators you're better than them no no no he's the opposite you need you need to be in the position an educator is someone who serve and and if you are a great uh person that put him service for the people this is when you're

[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_01] going to make the difference in a room yeah because for me that's exactly what it was i remember seeing the guys up on stage and my mom's a hairdresser she's here for like 47 years but i called my mom i called my mom's salon god's waiting room because those were all the old ladies went you know what i mean it was just kind of like they would you know it's like oh how's ruthie oh she passed away you're like oh god i don't work there i know right but she would drag me to the hair shows when i was a kid

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_01] then i would i remember sitting down watching them do the hair i remember seeing anthony moscolo on stage at the long beach hair show and i'm like i want to do that that was cool you know and then i went to one of the courses and i remember remember thomas osborne you remember him oh yeah yeah yeah i remember seeing him up on stage and he was the guy that was like whatever he said i'm like i want to do what this guy does you know and that's the thing is they or but there's also a lot of hairdressers

[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_01] out there they just want the education they want to work just behind the chair and that's okay too you know what i mean but this is the way that you're going to go through and further education

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_02] and make a lot more money yes and my biggest my yeah my biggest thing about educating is i couldn't find my makeup education anywhere i mean i was at barnes and noble and the library and whatever books i could possibly find about makeup and skin and everything so i found my own education one of the reasons why i went with bedhead is because i wanted the education and i became an educator because i wanted to learn and the way i was learning was through educating and i was learning from

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_02] other people and what they needed to know and learn about makeup so i learned a lot i mean it's a give

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_00] and take with education you took a very big important point a lot of the time we think that being an educator is someone already knows all the answers which is absolutely not true we still don't know all the answers to this day i think exactly i think actually you know being able to explain something and then you got someone in front of you that says i didn't get it like okay how can i explain this differently exactly come on from another way give you another way and then another way and then another

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_00] way and then i come from underneath and then i come from the top but ultimately it pushes you if the educator has the right mindset to be someone who gives someone who who takes their understanding you know they are account accountable this is how you say yeah yeah for people understanding that is when it pushes you to really become the right educator and this is when you learn so much

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_00] i've started educating not because i was ready to be an educator but because probably i had the right attitude and you know at that time you know kossakis uh you know which i'm always grateful for him because he was the guy that he saw me at the academy you know the big smile the guy that couldn't couldn't hold his excitement to be around you know the effie the indira and everyone else and and and

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_00] and the attitude was there not the knowledge i wasn't ready to become an educator but i had the right attitude and they saw it and they nurtured that and and this is where i say it does not help with you and hairdressing he is he's having the right attitude then everything else is learnable if you got that open mindset if you surround yourself by the right people a then you're gonna learn uh but if

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_00] you're going in education thinking that you were the bomb that the way you do it no one else can do it what then is the wrong attitude and people gonna feel it they're gonna go up in front of you once but once is enough and they're gonna come back again that's so true it's like don't you shouldn't

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_01] be doing this if that's your attitude you should not be doing this you have to be be able to connect with people and understand people and also give them what they actually want because there's nothing like otherwise you just prove that hey you do hair really well cool you know great have a nice day you know but yeah one so one of the things that you were showing me the first time we were talking

[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_01] about the global hair collective was your trend report holy shit i've never had something give me like tingles in such a long time you know i mean when it comes to like hair and education and things like that and you were kind of breaking that down to me and i was like oh fuck this is what our industry has been missing you know i mean because thank you people are not paying attention to like they're paying attention to fashion but they're paying attention to the things that hollywood gives them

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_01] give me as opposed to what what scene what music and fashion and london hair you know fashion week is doing things like that so can you explain uh if you possibly could i mean without like you know i know it's a podcast but without having the visuals i will absolutely on instagram because oh fuck they're

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_00] they're awesome you know thank you thank you very much thank you well we start with the first principle you know when someone comes to one of our trend report they're not learning how to do six looks that's that's not what i want and right i would have done a video i would have done a video if that was the case and but the idea is to understand not only how to replicate the trend but how where the where the trend come from and you know every yes every see every single season

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_00] you know we we we think that fashion is a big bubble and yes we got a big four we got new york with we got milan we got paris we got london but you know there is an invisible thread that connects them all and and no matter if you're a gucci or schiaparelli or prada no matter which designer where you come from if you show up in paris or milan there is always an invisible thread that kind of

[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_00] connects them a little bit and you know this is when you're working with people that understand fashion that does fashion you know most of the people in the global hair collective during fashion week they do travel you know all the cd and they don't just watch but they do the actual show we then get together and we're starting from cagwell because this is where we see you know a lot of the fashion style but before it drift into our common people like us you know it goes into the celebrity

[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_00] so we show and we're creating a thread from from catwalk all the way to our to the red carpet and the people that make the scene you know this season was denny moore that show up in gucci with that leather and jumpsuit it was crazy and oh everyone goes fucking nuts over that shit absolutely we're nuts into that but that goes back into that dark glamour uh trend that you know this season was

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_00] about from from there we're going into music and festival because also that music and festival has a huge influence when it comes to trend and for music and festival we need to also talk about movies and and series because that is also trend i have a nine years old um um daughter and last season she got obsessed with 80s stuff why yeah because she was watching stranger things yeah you watch stranger

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_00] things oh you know that is yeah that is my jam this is when i grew up and my daughter she was wanted to to buy all 80s stuff so also movie and series netflix um um anything that is out there in sam how is pulling that fashion in different direction and and and our trend report is giving

[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_00] a 360 degrees vision of what's happening in the world of trends starting from the runaway drifting into celebrity moving into fashion cinema it is a journey is this one can be a two days or three days calls but we take people from where that trend got originated and then we're pushing into then how to recreate how to mix them together how to merge a trend what is the color palette what is the color placement

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_00] it's not one look is multiple look we come with a hero image but obviously we need to create a montage of variation because i can't teach you six haircuts or six color that's not the train that's not what i want to do not even myself when it jump on stage i don't want to repeat exactly the same the same haircut for now for whole season i don't want that so each trend probably has 10 20 variation yeah and what and when

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_00] we go up on stage here's my model is about creating something that is bespoke uh to them and and having your own voice this is where you know i'm very loud and vivid with this where it's the artist and his vision that brings it to life this is what's going to make it personal and where the identity of the

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_02] artist is going to be so important so basically what you're saying is that that's an artist so you can teach someone so many cuts and they're very mechanical about it and they just know those cuts and that's it correct but an artist and an educator can actually learn those basic cuts and then kind of use them around and use the geometry around the orb to create a different look a different shape even

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_00] different colors when it comes to color theory and exactly put it this way am i want to teach a concept or am i want to teach giving the instruction of an ikea wardrobe right yeah it's exactly the same things you know so yeah i want to teach a concept if you learn the concept you the concept is something that it's an idea it's something that become yours it's something that stimulate your thought process

[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_00] and this is where the wanting to create this is what i expect someone that comes into my show that like or or a seminar will be like oh is that oh moment that you're like that's interesting and then you think straight away i've got that client that i can do these and i've been thinking about that that that so i want to i want to share with people concept and and and this is where i live on my own skin that

[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_00] when someone gives me a concept i'm an artist this is why i'm a hairdresser i want to express myself if i tell someone what to do from a to z you kill creativity and and that's not our job yeah that's where a lot

[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_01] of people go when i would teach some of the students would be like i want my haircut it looked exactly like how that person did it i go then you go be that person because you can't do it because there they did it they did it now you do your way you know what i mean it's different graduation is

[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_02] graduation it's okay yeah hair is different yeah i once had a makeup artist up in alaska redo my entire portfolio i was working with a hairdresser geneva and she said yeah there's this makeup artist here in alaska that uh says that she can do better than you she recreated my entire portfolio that i had online and i said i'm not intimidated because i created that is she going to create something of her own probably not she only knows how to reproduce what i did yeah you had a life basically

[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_02] yeah that's not that's not creativity you know what i mean but that's not no no that's that's copycat

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_00] but i was flattered yeah i had client should be i had client in the salon that came with my pictures from my work that was out there and says could you do this and my answer was big laugh and i say no she said i thought you did that i was like yes i did so can you not do the same it's like it can't be the same can't be replicated it's one off yeah it's a one-off every every piece that we do guys it's a

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_00] one-off this is why we're artists you know that that makeup that you do paula it's a one-off that heck that we do guys it's a one-off that styling that we do we need to understand that wherever we do is always a one-off can we do something similar can we work along the line can we go through the same concept of course we can or can you be inspired by it if you're inspired by somebody

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_02] else's work give it a try and it'll be your own right it's a concept yeah absolutely make it yours

[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_01] it's like saying that make it yours i mean the 80s it's a feeling isn't it you know what i mean it's like you know people can go through oh i used to wear that back in the 80s did you really though okay maybe something similar you know what i mean yeah i just wear my hair like it's a feeling you know i mean that's why you have a collection the collection is a feeling you know i mean so that way they all have something that works within that collection whether it be the shine or the mat or the whatever it is you know i mean whatever that is a detail it's a detail you know exactly i

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_02] love how fluid it is too i love how fluid fashion and hair and makeup is constantly changing yeah constantly making you can't stop them you just can't why would you want to stop them no

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_00] no no no it's our business yes you know if we do if we if we do one collection and you know you're right for five years then yeah i know what would it be a coast on your laurels i don't think so no no that you know ultimately fashion is it is a business um yeah and you know very often we we

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_00] we think creativity yes is part of the business but we also need to understand that fashion it is a business is also there to make money otherwise those designer won't be there you know if you didn't sell the clothes you wouldn't have a deal uh you wouldn't have a balian siaga you wouldn't have all that amazing artistry that keep inspiring season after season for the last century you know

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_00] ultimately you need to sell they're not a charity and the same goes with us whatever we do it can be arty it can be very pushy pushing boundary but ultimately we need to sell if no one wants to wear my haircut in the salon then why they all have designed that that style in first place you know there's a moment where i think we can just close our eyes and and there's a moment to express

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_00] secretivity with you know what we see more of an avant-garde um or an all couture um fashion cat world runaway where we see this amazing dress where you say there's not going to be anyone wearing it well that's the point no one wants to wear it but that was a moment where the designer felt that he has to express himself and that is the moment where you dream and yes we got those moments but it's only a small percentage you know we need to understand fashion ultimately needs to sell a hairdresser

[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_00] ultimately needs to sell education ultimately has to be related to bring it back into the salon and push your railing you up you know yeah i need to be able to educate someone and let him go back in the salon that he has more tools to look after his client he has more tools to attract more people that is something that very often we stop at how cool is being an educator but ultimately why people

[00:44:51] [SPEAKER_00] want education in first place yeah and and that is the point that's the thing that that was one of

[00:44:57] [SPEAKER_01] the biggest things i remember when i where i work for tony and guy people see all the new collection and go why the fuck would i want to learn that i'm like why would you not you know i'm like why would you not

[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_02] want to learn that open your mind expand your brain open your mind learn how to do something

[00:45:13] [SPEAKER_01] different so when that one person does walk in and they want something a little bit differently

[00:45:18] [SPEAKER_00] that you have the tools to do it jason i've teach i think in my career a thousand people yeah and you're gonna have and you're gonna have people that they're looking at image and they're gonna say oh i'm gonna do that and you're gonna have someone that own who and and and that means the point you know because that that imagery you know if you understand the concept that's where i go back to

[00:45:44] [SPEAKER_00] if you understand if you understood the concept behind it yeah then you can take it to any level you want but if you are just learn how to do it from a to z well then yes probably you're never going to do that picture ever in your salon yeah yeah and and and and and this is where you know i go back to you know you you really want to teach concept and not giving instruct you know instruction

[00:46:13] [SPEAKER_01] that's that's the thing you know i mean there's there's a lot of people i've gotten to sit in those back rooms when collections were being put together and the art team would go through and bring in the photographs and it wasn't about like photographs of hair it would be a structure it would be color it would be nature it would be fashion everything and they would put it all together this is kind of the feeling that i'm getting this is what i want to do with the haircut this is what i

[00:46:39] [SPEAKER_01] want to do with the color and how we mix it all together and yeah i would say close to 90 percent of the hairdressers will never be in a back room with the art team hearing what they're wanting to go through and express you know i mean and i think it's the creative process when i was listening to your trend report and listening to your creative process i'm like this is it you're bringing the back room stuff that we would see in london or sometimes seen with anthony moscow the one he it switched to bed

[00:47:08] [SPEAKER_01] head i'd be with them in dallas and we're all bringing our ideas that we want to do for the next collection you know you're bringing that to the forefront you're being those back room hairdresser creative conversations into your educational platform and i really appreciate that and that's why i got tingles that's why i was like i got really excited about your stuff you know thank you thank you very much it means a lot it means a lot it means a lot thank you so where do you see global hair collective

[00:47:36] [SPEAKER_00] within the next five years that's a very good question look i i always been a dreamer i i never i never listened to the small voice and that's what brought me to where i am today cool and i do believe that my last 20 years was a preparation for what is about to come nice wow well said nice so this is where global hair collective is going to be in five years

[00:48:02] [SPEAKER_00] you know what we've done what we managed to achieve in six months it is extraordinary um you know if you think about it that there's not been a company or a brand that managed to put that talent together with their budget and we put that we put that people together you know for a vision

[00:48:25] [SPEAKER_00] so didn't buy them with money but we brought people together because of a vision and i do believe that that vision is that strong that you know the result are very much you know already there obviously people can't see it because we only launched it two weeks ago but i'm the one who sees the calendar for 2027 i'm the one that every single day has at least a meeting with three distributors around the

[00:48:51] [SPEAKER_00] world that is asking to do business together to bring the global hair collective in their country and that is phenomenal you know so i am very excited for what is coming next um it is about the people my main focus is people and this is where the global hair collective is going to stand for artists first that is my number one priority making sure that anyone who join the team you know feel

[00:49:21] [SPEAKER_00] value feel heard i feel that he's creating creativity he's been value this is why you're part of the team and trust it that's the other thing and based on those value you know we we happy to add value you know to the industry we want to play our part and that's one of the things you have to ask yourself

[00:49:43] [SPEAKER_01] as an educator are you with a company are you educating because you have the same values are you doing it just for the fucking paycheck man you know i mean because you know who what are you really doing it for you're doing it for how good is that paycheck right you know i mean what are you doing it for i think that's like really important you know i mean and this sounds like this is for the value i know who you're working with i know these guys i know why they do it i know why they do hair

[00:50:10] [SPEAKER_01] because they fucking love it and they get off on this shit marino i want to clean education i'm telling you jason marino these i know what these guys are about you know and i know how they get off on this shit i know how to get off on hair and on fashion things like that so you have you have a great team

[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_00] dude great fucking we it's gonna it's gonna be phenomenal i'll tell you this we we met uh we then we had a bit of a meeting uh all together and um i was in london i traveled back and forth yes i am in spain now but i travel i travel on a monthly base to london and i brought the team uh not all the team but most of the team came to to see me in my favorite spot in london which is the bike shed i'm

[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_00] not sure if you ever heard that but it's a cool place where you got all custom model bikes and uh i used to get i used to be there pretty much in a weekly base so i've got the guys there and one by one they're starting to arrive and you know the last guy comes in and you know i see all the sudden again ito sam elliott and his meat danilo jangreco um standing one after the other as a lineup and it

[00:51:23] [SPEAKER_00] gave me goosebumps to see them all line up and i'm like yeah imagine these guys now on a stage doing what they love you know and this is yeah you know that's the difference where can they go out and do education yes of course they're going to go out and do education on their own but the idea is to bring them together you know this is when you want to have you know me again

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_00] doing a show together that we're organizing now you know couple of shows in spain and you're going to see very soon danilo macotto myself mateo in italy doing a big show in turin and this is when you're going to see people that normally they've been on their own working together collaborating together and that's fucking cool you know there was a guy who said to me you brought together the adventure

[00:52:15] [SPEAKER_00] of the hairdresser and probably that that explains it a little bit yeah that's yeah it is exciting

[00:52:25] [SPEAKER_01] it is going to be exciting exciting time ahead it has been a pleasure you guys if you guys are going to get education these are the guys to get to that's for sure let me tell you there hasn't been anything that's made me want to go through and get back into this besides watching it makes me want to educate again it is exactly i mean i really want you to you know thank you go through and do

[00:52:47] [SPEAKER_00] yeah absolutely you know but we got two amazing guy in the states um we start as i say we starting small i could have started with a lot more people but i wanted to start small in the u.s we got mark laden and angela valillo one on the east coast on the other one is on the west coast you know they are two tremendous artists and educators that they will will be very happy to to support but you know

[00:53:13] [SPEAKER_00] come and see us on the on the platform you know send an inquiry send me a text whatever is that is the case we're not ai uh booted where we're applying we handle we're gonna we're handling each inquiry person by person and and and that's what and other things that we want to keep it for a very long time

[00:53:59] [SPEAKER_01] know we're starting to see a resurgence of education come back so if you guys want this i'm going to go through and put everything in the show notes they have a couple one guy on the west coast one guy on the east coast you have it here please put the inquiries make sure you get to daniele and brother so good to have you on the show we appreciate you very nice visiting with you daniele thank you very
