Oh shit, man We had a freaking bomb cyclone hit Seattle I heard it was a bomb Oh yeah, I had some massive, like four massive branches Fly off of one of my trees And I have like this 80 foot like pine tree in my front yard

[00:00:58] And about, I don't know, it's like 40 feet up Four branches came down, sitting right on my drop line From the pole to my house and ripped the weather mask off So we're recording this on my, from my phone using a hotspot So if it gets a little weird, that's why So I'm going to apologize in advance But it's been a shit show Apology accepted, Jason Thank you So we'll see how this kind of goes Yeah, let's see how Well, I'm still waiting for the guy to show up to face the internet We'll have to see

[00:01:54] I mean, they finally got the majority of the electricity back on On last Sunday And so, I mean, that was out from Tuesday to Sunday So, it was just absolutely fucking It's just insanity around here You know, one woman was in her shower And a tree fell on her in the shower While she, in her house And killed her While she was taking a shower Oh, jeez That's how bad it was It was really crazy So I'm complaining about using a hot spot And a down power line in my house You know what I mean? That's, I mean, that's nothing So, we have power We're good

[00:02:23] They died in their shower I know I mean, could have been you Yeah Could have been me Washing my hair You know, that's what I'm gonna do afterwards Go wash my hair My three hairs Anyhow What are we talking about today, buddy? Talking about many salons we know of that have closed And there's different reasons why that these salons closed Some of the guys or salon owners are assholes Some are just pure idiots

[00:02:51] Or just malignant narcissists Well, I wonder which ones we've worked for So I think all of the above I think we're gonna go through and like do a level From level one to level five Shitty it You know what I mean? That's who we've worked for I mean, number one being just a complete Fucking moron Shitty it Two Complete Just Asshole Cocaine driven Malignant narcissist Shitty it So up and down the road From like one to five One being kind of like just a dumbass

[00:03:20] To five being like the worst of the worst Shitty it On the planet And I mean, we've worked at salons that have closed down We've worked for a company that has completely shut down Across the United States Well You know, we just talked about that That happened after us You know Yeah That happened after us They We were at Warren Tachromey when that closed down Well, you left I had already left I just saw that as chaos And just had to get out of there I didn't know what would happen I certainly I didn't know The salon would just close

[00:03:49] Especially with a name that big It just It needed to Yeah It did You're right It didn't need to shut down Because it wasn't like The ones in New York This was its own thing Wasn't it? It was, but they would also come out And work at the salon as well, though, too So it was kind of like a sister salon in California But it wasn't like I don't think if they were fully invested In the ones like they did in New York No So, I mean, they had one in Miami that closed down The one in California closed down But the way it was run

[00:04:18] It was just like He was just hiring people to hire people Just keep the doors open Thinking if he hired this person That they would be the savior of the salon There was no room in there either The reason I left was like You couldn't even walk around It was like Too much furniture And too many people working Side by side Like I had to share a station With this crazy girl Right But see, here's the thing, though That was a good problem to have At the time For the owner Sure And literally within six months

[00:04:47] There was maybe four people working there It went from 22 people Working inside that salon To four All within six months You know And it happened really fast Everyone Every week It seemed like someone was quitting You know there's something wrong When that happens You know Yeah Like when you find that Half of your salons left Or more than half And what do you even do with Thing is You have a lot of room Like you have all this empty space It just looks awful So Yeah He was just not invested

[00:05:17] He was doing a product line At that time So he was barely there He was barely paying attention To the salon He was just hiring anybody Who like he thought Might have a clientele And majority of that he hired Didn't have a clientele They're going to try to go through And work off the name Try to build it But no one was going in there anymore So Everyone was leaving I mean I left I remember Just taking cash At the end From my clients Yeah I remember the manager Walking over to me Going like What are you doing And I'm like I'm taking cash I'll tell you one thing right now If you get your last paycheck

[00:05:46] You let me know And I'll make sure I give the cash back The other half To the salon owner Whatever I owe to him Because I guarantee You won't get it You will not get your money Guess what Lo and behold He texted me He never got his money I'm like There you go See That's why I was taking cash Towards the end At that point He wasn't even there So for me I was like Cool I'm just taking cash I'm taking the 100% As opposed to Back then I was getting 65% From the owner And he was getting 35% Which was a huge number For as far as Commission goes Sure You know But I was just taking all of it Well

[00:06:15] Would he be a Level 1 shit idiot Yeah I would say level 1 That's for sure You know what I mean Because he wasn't paying attention Yeah He wasn't a complete asshole You know what I mean He just wasn't there No he wasn't an asshole He wasn't a great guy Just wasn't paying attention And everything You know He was like Whatever But that Whatever attitude Is sort of what Got those Salon lows You know So yeah Yeah It's like It's like you're not Paying attention to money Yeah Especially when you're When you have someone Stealing from you Me

[00:06:45] Yeah I mean Yeah And you have no idea What's happening Not a clue And I wasn't the only one That's for sure I was not the only one Oh he's level 1 There was another guy There was I'm not gonna name his name No not his name The names of people Who were also stealing Oh they know who they are I'm not gonna name I'm not gonna call you out Right now No Well of course They know who they are Every hairdresser on the planet Has done something like that So Yeah Can't tell me that you haven't Unless you're an assistant And you don't know how to steal yet

[00:07:14] You haven't done it yet Then Yeah You've done it You've done it Go fuck yourself You've done it It just has to be People watching To make sure So The next shit Yet This guy actually Had a television show Oh god This was back I would say Like the early 2000s And it was about A hair salon In Beverly Hills So if you Kind of google that You'll probably find out Who we're talking about But this guy was Complete Just Complete Fucking asshole Yeah And We're talking about Like

[00:07:43] How was his reputation Yes And it's Not even my Opinion he is It's Well known If you watch his show You just See how much of an asshole He is And he knows it Oh he knows it Doesn't care No secret But he had two shops He had one in Beverly Hills He had one in West Hollywood They did this show From the one In Beverly Hills And Yeah You could just tell He was just a Complete Narcissus All he cared about Was himself And the way he looked And Not like

[00:08:13] What he looked like Well both Image wise And how people Perceived him You know That was like Really important to him But Oh god He called me up One time I did A photo shoot One time And the manager Put it in some magazine Like listed all the people That I've done in the past And it just so happened That it was someone That he used to do As well too So he called me up At the salon To scream at me To tell me that He's the one That does their hair And that it shouldn't Have gone into a magazine Yeah And I'm like Like you own this This person Or this group

[00:08:42] It was a girl band You know what I mean It was just like You don't own them And by the way I did do the shoot And I do get the credit For that by the way So go fuck yourself Right You know When he was yelling at me I had no idea who it was He was more pissed off That I had no idea Who he was When I was on the phone Yeah It's like who Who are you Then when I found out I want to say his name So bad I almost said it But I remember The Beverly Hills location After they get done shooting The place wasn't profitable

[00:09:12] So he called He was calling other people To see if they would Buy it from him And no one would So they had to close it down Then that started A trickle effect Because he had The West Hollywood location As well though too And that shut down Here's the fucked up Part about it though How the staff found out They showed up to work That morning And the doors were closed And locked And there was a note On the door Saying that the salon Will no longer be open And if you want Your last paycheck Sue me in bankruptcy court I mean that's a level

[00:09:41] Five shitty at that point You know what I mean That is some fucked up stuff Yeah that's really extreme Like he didn't tell anyone There was no warning He just like Fuck it Fuck everybody Exactly Yep And he wasn't The one that put the padlock On the door It was the landlord He put the padlock On the door Because there wasn't Any rent being paid And then he put up A letter Geez I wonder how long He didn't Yeah I wonder how long It's gotta be a while You can't just like The landlord's You're gonna work with you I've been a landlord before Yeah There's rules

[00:10:11] And it's like The tenants have A lot of advantages You know So Well Not for commercial Not for commercial For like If it's like A private residence Yes For commercial Is very different But If you own A hair salon Which is very specific Because you have The plumbing is geared Just for a hair salon The HVAC Everything So If I was a landlord And I had like A restaurant Or a hair salon I would do my best To make sure That they were paying The rent Because to find

[00:10:40] A new tenant For the exact same thing Her restaurant Is a little bit different But for a hair salon That's pretty hard Yeah So I would be trying To work So you know It probably was At least three to six months I probably wasn't Paying rent And you know It's excuse After excuse After excuse That they're gonna have For the landlord So of course You've been a tenant For a long time They're gonna believe you For a short period of time But who knows What lies they were telling them Probably nothing I just happened to note Like how he Handles things Like if there's an issue

[00:11:10] With a client He's like Okay Here's how we're Handling this We're not gonna handle it Right Exactly That's how he rolls So he probably was He was ignoring the calls And just not paying And so the landlord Gave him something He couldn't ignore Yeah Or anyone else So he just locked up Everything in there And here's the thing So the two When that happened The staff came to The salon we used to work at At Chris McMillan And I remember talking To someone in the courtyard

[00:11:39] Who I knew That worked there And he goes Jason He goes I don't have anything Like what do you mean He goes The doors were locked All of our tools Were inside I don't have a blow dryer I don't have combs I don't have scissors Nothing Everything is locked inside Wow Because the landlord Is locking everything up So that way he has Everyone's equipment So if he has to do A fire sale He's got stuff to sell To make up for all The loss of rent And revenue So I remember I remember going I'm like Listen I can't give you A pair of scissors But I can at least Give you a comb And some clips You know what I mean I didn't have A spare dryer with me But I was like

[00:12:09] Helping them out And they're like We're just trying To find a place To do our clients Right now And I'm like Wherever you land I'm like You might want to You know Borrow a pair of scissors But I can't help You out with that But it was so messed up And they were like I don't even know How I'm going to pay My own rent Right now I mean That's some fucked up Shit To do that to everybody And just not tell them And not even give them A heads up To when they get Their tools out So at least these guys What they finally Ended up doing Was contacting the landlord Paying the landlord At least part of Like their rent Or something like that To get their tools Out of the shop Wow

[00:12:39] You know what I mean Here's some Here's like You know A couple I don't know A thousand bucks Or whatever it is At least let us Get our tools out You know And I think the landlord Did let him work A few days Kind of make up for it And then just Shut the place down Paid him Yeah They paid the landlord You know Exactly They paid the landlord Not the salon So he just Basically He took over the salon For a minute And I don't know If you know How bankruptcy court works But there's a pecking order To that So whoever Goes through And has the majority

[00:13:09] Of money that's owed to them They're at the top Of the list And if there's Any money left over Afterwards Then those people Get money And the majority Of the time The one who gets You know Who has the most That's owed to them They're the ones That get the huge chunk And everyone else Gets screwed So when you're going Through and like Hey Yeah You want to get paid Sue me in bankruptcy court Really? You're really going to go down And do that? Hire a lawyer to sue him? It's not going to It'll cost you more money In the lawyer's fees Than it is for whatever you're owed So it's kind of fucked up Like you might as well

[00:14:37] Have lovely things To say about her And her husband Who was running the place I don't know what was going on They were both cheating On each other It was just a weird Dynamic You know what I mean But Everyone saw the writing Cheating on each other Yeah And running a hair salon And cheating on each other And I don't know Sleeping with staff Who knows what Which happens all the time What do you mean That's against the rules Right Oh yeah Absolutely Don't they have to sign Like a sexual harassment Thing And all this other Yeah

[00:15:07] I do all the time I signed Somebody else's name So I'm cool Exactly I always Yeah I never use my real name What's your name Bob Bob Thompson Bobby Just call me Bobby Anyhow this woman She ran this place Straight into the ground Years ago I used The landlord Of her building Her accountant Used to be one of my clients And I remember him Coming to ask me questions About the salon world Because his lawyers

[00:15:37] The lawyers wanted to know Like how The place makes money And how they can get money From her Because I guess She was behind on rent For at least a year And that's how much A year That's how much Landlords will work with you She was behind in rent She bought another salon And she didn't read the lease Or anything When she bought it Or I would just say The contract she bought it And she thought she was buying A full on operational salon And come to find out She was just buying the shell She thought she was getting staff She thought she was getting the product

[00:16:07] She thought she was getting the stations She gave this guy the money And then when she went When she got the keys To go open up the place Right Everything was gone Anything that wasn't nailed down I mean down to the toilet paper Everything was gone Listen How do you not know There was four walls and a roof She didn't read it She really She didn't read No Something she signed No Obviously not And gave a lot of money for her Yep Cut a loan I'm sure You know Yep And now she's paying the lease On that place And another location that she had

[00:16:36] So when she went to go talk to the landlord To tell them what happened How she got screwed They were looking over her lease And they found out That they were reading the lease They didn't find out They actually had this in the lease That if she opened up another location Within a five mile radius She would have to pay triple net to them On top of the lease To the other place That she was renting from So that means Whatever profit she was getting From the second location She would have to give them A certain percentage to them As well as the two Because it was in a five mile radius And it fell within that five mile radius Wow

[00:17:06] Correct I mean so I don't know What level of shitty this is It's kind of like You're all five levels From one to five I mean Because you're stupid But you're I haven't got to the asshole part yet You know what I mean Well She's looking at a So like in my eyes From what I've heard so far She's at least a level two Yes She's not a total moron She's trying to Like scam a little bit Maybe I don't know But yeah She's not all that smart though

[00:17:36] Okay No Not at all And I'm hearing this story Straight from the accountant By the way You know So I know I'm getting a very accurate account Of what's happening Because when I was talking To her old employees There was a lot of gaps That I was filling in Because they had no idea What was going on Or where their rent money Was going to So the second location That she had Finally closed down So now she's just Focusing and trying to Reestablish On her first shop That she had And she's doing

[00:18:05] A very poor job of it So She's behind on all her bills Trying to get product That is definitely A key sign That your salon Is probably not doing well Is when they can't Stock enough product If there's no back bar There's no shampoo There's no product On the shelves To sell Because they can't They need their bills That's your first red flag That you better fucking go It's time to start Jumping ship You know what I mean And finding a different Salon to go work at That is definitely A telltale right there

[00:18:34] So you know that one Very well right Oh yeah Yeah Those are the things I notice It's concerning To say the least To say the least Right Yeah Oh there's no shampoo Huh I wonder what Oh it's on order Sure it is You have to sell more To get more And I was like Exactly Can't sell it If I can't use it Uh huh So Here's your red flag What do we do here Yeah here's a little red flag Take it home with you So that was like

[00:19:04] One of their first red flags The salon There was like All types of problems Plumbing problems You know what I mean I don't know If like the ceiling tiles Are falling off Who knows what But the place Just started getting dirty Things weren't getting Fixed properly That's what I can't handle Is a dirty Broken Salon That's what I cannot Clients are complaining Staff are complaining About it The last straw Was the IRS Comes walking Through the door She owed the IRS

[00:19:33] Over Eight hundred Thousand dollars Surprise Surprise Wow how do you Do that Geez From a hair salon You stop paying That's more than What it's worth I think Exactly Yeah Well at this point Absolutely But of course She's just as shocked As everybody else is She had no idea That she owed the IRS Eight hundred Over eight hundred thousand dollars It was a surprise It was a shock She must have gotten

[00:20:02] A letter She said Well no one called me They don't call Exactly They don't They write letters Well I never got those letters No Yeah you did I've been audited Two times Myself personally And you remember all this Yeah I would The IRS sends you a letter Telling you that they sent you a letter You know You know You're being audited You know You owe money The IRS I mean I can't even tell you Especially when you own your own business You get letter

[00:20:32] After letter After letter From the IRS They want to know everything They want to know If you're trying to scam them In any way If you owe them If you owe them A hundred dollars They send you ten letters To let you know They spent more money Sending you letters Than what you owe them That's the IRS Yeah Alright so But here's the thing Here's what happened She let it go So far And did not pay the bills Ignoring the IRS The IRS agents Showed up to the salon And started taking money

[00:21:01] Straight from the clients And then So she had commission people Went in there Like robbing them Or No So whenever you went After you got your service When you went to go pay The front desk In their purse The agents Had their own credit card machines And Or if you're writing a check You wrote your check out To the internal revenue service Not to the salon Wow So they literally Took over the salon Yes Like it's a coup That's exactly what they did That's a coup Yeah Yeah Yeah And then the people That were leasing Their chairs From the salon

[00:21:30] They were basically told To go through And just write the check Straight to internal revenue service I was dying I'm like You're joking I've never experienced that I mean I mean I've seen salon closed down But I've never even heard of it I know To have the IRS Just kind of show up Their agents Are there With their own credit card machines That's amazing I think that I might So like If I knew it was Close To doing that You know I think I might Shut it all down First What do you mean Before something like that happens I don't know

[00:21:59] I think that you get the hint That maybe you need to Just shut it all down And then No, no, no It's a surprise You know Sell it or whatever You know Well That's the thing Give them all the money When you're trying to sell it You got to come up with all the paperwork And show everyone What you've made So you have to do The people People who are buying it Do their due diligence You know what I mean But then not only that When the IRS When the IRS takes money Out of your account Usually You don't know about Well When they come to your shop Or your place of business Are collecting cash They don't tell you

[00:22:28] They just come in And just take You don't know So they just show up Like we're the IRS We're agents You know what I mean And if they need to call the police They'll call the police You know what I mean They'll have people there with guns That's exactly how the IRS operates So They might have even Shown up with that So I'm sure they probably Just in case So There you go Level 5 That So we just say That goes from One to five I mean it's like All encompassing Shitty it on that one Would you agree? I don't know Yeah
